FAQs

  • General information about the Anti sleep Pilot®
  • When should I use the Anti Sleep Pilot®?
    • You should use the Anti Sleep Pilot® every time you drive. Accidents involving people who drive when tired take place on both long and short journeys, in towns and on motorways, by day and at night.

  • What should I do if my Anti Sleep Pilot® does not switch on automatically?
    • Check to make sure there is a battery in your Anti Sleep Pilot®. Check the battery to make sure it is inserted correctly. If the battery indicator does not start flashing, it is time to replace the battery.

  • Can I set the time in Anti Sleep Pilot®?
    • The clock in Anti Sleep Pilot is set at the factory to Central European Time and automatically switches to daylight savings time in the summer. Therefore, you cannot change the time and for that reason you should not use the Anti Sleep Pilot® outside of Europe and Africa.

  • Special driving situations
  • What should I do if the Anti Sleep Pilot® distracts me when I drive?
    • There may be times when the Anti Sleep Pilot® could distract you as you drive; when you are trying to find a road, driving in bumper-to-bumper traffic, etc.

There are two ways to prevent distraction:
      1. Immediately turn the volume down
      2. Remove the Anti Sleep Pilot® from its magnetic base. As long as you replace it within ten minutes, this will not affect calculation of your driving fatigue level.

  • What happens if I end up sitting in a traffic jam?
    • There is a chance the Anti Sleep Pilot® will think you are taking a break if you remain standing in traffic for any length of time. However, this will have no effect on your onwards journey if you remain stationary for less than ten minutes.

  • Status
  • What should I do if I have set my status too high?
    • You can always adjust your status downwards, except when the Anti Sleep Pilot® has issued its first break recommendation. You cannot set it lower than your risk profile will usually allow on the basis of the journey you have entered.

  • Can I tell it that I am particularly well rested and wide awake?
    • No, this is not possible. The Anti Sleep Pilot® will assume that you are fully rested unless you adjust your status.

  • Alertness test
  • Why is there an orange circle lit up on my Anti Sleep Pilot® without a sound being emitted?
    • The sound level in the Anti Sleep Pilot® can be adjusted. You should check whether you have turned the volume down. If you want your Anti Sleep Pilot® to emit sound, you must turn the volume back up.

  • Why is my Anti Sleep Pilot® not register my reaction to an alertness test
    • The Anti Sleep Pilot® is equipped with touch sensors. The best place to touch is slighttly to the right of the display on the top - ideally with several fingers. If this does not work, you should check if the battery is flat. The touch sensors will be unable to register your touch if you are wearing gloves. Take a look at page 19 to see a diagram of the touch sensors.

  • What happens if I fail to react to an alertness test?
    • There may be driving situations in which you are unable to react quickly enough to an alertness test. The Anti Sleep Pilot® will then administer another alertness test within two to three minutes. If you react too slowly to four consecutive tests the Anti Sleep Pilot® will recommend a break.

  • Why does my Anti Sleep Pilot® emit a sound when I react to an alertness test?
    • The Anti Sleep Pilot® emits two short, low sounds when you either react too slowly to an alertness test or do not react at all. The Anti Sleep Pilot® will then present you with new alertness tests at shorter intervals. If you react too slowly to four consecutive tests, the Anti Sleep Pilot® will recommend you take a break.

  • Battery
  • How do I know when it is time to change the battery?
    • You must replace the battery when the battery indicator flashes orange, otherwise your Anti Sleep Pilot® will not behave as described in this manual. When the battery begins to flash orange, a quality battery has 1-4 hours of life left. You should always keep a spare battery in the car.

  • What happens if I replace the battery during a journey?
    • The Anti Sleep Pilot® will save your driving fatigue level for eight hours without a battery and start from its most currently level following replacement of the battery. Therefore, data on you journey will be saved even if you replace the battery.

  • Breaks
  • What happens if I start driving in the middle of a recommended break?
    • If you resume driving during a break (i.e. before the recommended ten minutes are up), the Anti Sleep Pilot® will indicate this by emitting a sound. If you choose to continue driving, your driving fatigue level will not be reset and the Anti Sleep Pilot® will not include this break in calculating its next break recommendation. You will receive a new break recommendation relatively quickly after. If you wish to ignore this recommendation, you must restart your Anti Sleep Pilot® (look in the manual for instructions on restarting the Anti Sleep Pilot®).

  • What happens if I take a longer break than that recommended by my Anti Sleep Pilot®
    • Taking a break longer than the recommended ten minutes has no effect on the Anti Sleep Pilot®. When you resume your journey (within eight hours), the Anti Sleep Pilot® will continue monitoring your driving fatigue level based on the most current settings.

  • Several users
  • What should we do when we have a change of driver?
    • You must first restart the Anti Sleep Pilot® (look in the manual for instructions on restarting your Anti Sleep Pilot®). The riskprofile for the new driver should then be set using the orange button at the bottom of the Anti Sleep Pilot®. Finally, the status of the new driver should be calculated and set. The new driver can then begin driving.

  • Removal
  • How do I remove the Anti Sleep Pilot® form my dashboard?
    • You can carefully remove the magnetic base from your dashboard using a flat utensil, such as a flat-head screwdriver, for example. Take care to not damage the surface of your dashboard. If you find any adhesive left from the magnetic base, we recommend that you wash your dashboard with clean water.
